This allows us to prepare in advance for your visit, making sure that we have the necessary equipment and carriers available for you to try on.

Our Baby Carrier Fitting Service is free when you’re exploring carriers available in-store for purchase. If you already own a carrier and would like help with fit and use, our Existing Carrier Fitting Service is available for $50. This fee can be fully redeemed on any in-store purchase or taken as a 12-month store credit.

Ideally yes. We highly recommend bringing your baby to the appointment as it allows us to assess the carrier’s fit and comfort level for both you and your baby. While we do have a demo doll that can simulate the weight of a baby, it’s not an exact representation of how your baby will feel in the carrier. Bringing your baby also gives you the opportunity to see how they respond to being in the carrier and whether they feel comfortable and secure. We understand that sometimes it may not be possible to bring your baby to the appointment, in which case we will do our best to assist you in finding the right carrier based on your needs and preferences.

Yes & No. It is best to wait until your baby has arrived to try on structured carriers such as baby carriers with waistbands as your baby bump can get in the way and won’t give you a true indication of fit. However, you can still try on stretchy wraps and ring slings with a baby bump as they tend to work better. Keep in mind that your body will continue to change postpartum, so it may be necessary to revisit the fit of your carrier after birth. In general, it is recommended to wait until your baby has arrived to get a more accurate fit for any type of baby carrier.

Baby carrier fittings typically take between 20 to 60 minutes but can be as long as 90 minutes. The duration can vary depending on how many carriers you’d like to try, how comfortable and confident you are with babywearing, the level of assistance you need, and whether your baby needs a break for feeding, settling, or a cuddle.

We ensure you understand and follow the TICKS Guidelines for safe babywearing. During the fitting, we check that your baby is seated in the correct ‘M’ position to support healthy hip development and that their spine is properly supported for their stage of growth. We also address common misconceptions, go over important do’s and don’ts, and debunk some of the babywearing myths often found on social media and in advertising.

While we understand that you may want to try on carriers before making a purchase, for safety and liability reasons, we cannot allow customers to try on carriers without supervision. Our trained Babywearing Consultant will be available to assist you in trying on and fitting the carriers properly to ensure your comfort and safety. We highly recommend booking a fitting appointment to make the most out of your visit to our store and to ensure that you find the right carrier for you and your baby.

If your baby was born prematurely or with a low birth weight (including twins), we strongly recommend consulting your medical team before using a baby carrier. Babies with respiratory conditions or other health concerns may require extra caution and support, so always seek guidance from your healthcare provider and/or a qualified babywearing consultant.

Many carriers have a minimum recommended weight of 3.5kg, so it’s important to check specifications carefully. Carriers like a ring sling, stretchy wrap, or the Hoppediz Primeo (designed with small babies in mind) are often better suited for these situations.
